Welcome to Video in the Cloud.
Video in the Cloud is the fusion of online video and cloud computing, two of the most significant current trends in computing. Indeed, the trajectory of online video adoption portends a massive expansion in data center capacity just as cloud computing promises to radically change the technologies and economics of the data center.
Bringing these two trends together, we formed Video in the Cloud to develop next generation cloud computing infrastructure that delivers high bandwidth access to massive amounts of data. In doing so, we enable cloud computing infrastructure that supports a broad class of data intensive Internet scale applications including various forms of online video.
Through Video in the Cloud, we characterize the opportunity and its associated requirements as well as define the core concepts and design principles that lead to major advances in both video and cloud infrastructure.
